Be Kind

be kind.

Has there ever been a simpler plea? We teach this to our children, we learn this in our congregations, and at our jobs.

What does it mean? To be nice? To say positive words? Being kind is not such an easy task. I've heard people say, "Just be nice." I've had to really reflect on what this means.

be kind... for everyone you meet is fighting a battle.

It is a way to show another soul that there is love in the world, that they are not alone, that none of us are alone.

So for me it is just a reminder that I do not know another human's heart, their life experiences, their traumas, their realities. I do know that we are all members of the human family. That we are all experiencing life and all human experiences available to us on this earth. We come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and types. Not one of us is the same. So to be kind for me is to see us all as pieces of a whole, and give a smile, a thoughtful word, suspend judgment, and accept and love all humans in our human journey's.

I choose love. I choose kindness. I love you humans.
